With a dynamic and eye-catching design, the Rattatan Stool never ceases to impress. The chair was created by Polish designer Wiktoria Szawiel. As the name clearly suggests, the chair is made of rattan. This is a common material that's usually associated with baskets or outdoor furniture. It's not a material you would expect to see in the design of a stool.

It's exactly the fact that it's an unlikely material for this type of furniture that makes the Rattatan Stool so special. The rattan was used for the same purpose, meaning to create a piece of furniture, in this case a stool. However, the way it was used and included in the project and the techniques used are not something very common either. As a result, the impact and the effect are very unexpected when compared to regular rattan weaving techniques usually used for furniture or storage baskets.

The Rattatan stool was created using rattan sticks. Since they are very lightweight, this particular area of the stool weights less than 1 kg. Rattan sticks are fairly fragile and, as you can imagine, only one stick couldn't hold a person. However, several sticks might do the trick. In this case they were put together and connected in order to create a comfortable and durable piece of furniture. The stool also has a very eye-catching and artistic look. The seat might not seem very comfortable to you but the stool is in fact surprising in this sense. You could even say it's a massage stool.{found on behance}.
