Creating something interesting from materials that are considered trash always intrigues us. The bottlecap sculpture above is so skillfully crafted that it is hard to imagine these up-cycled caps any differently than sculpted clay or a beautiful stone to be carved.

Bottlecaps can be found as an important medium in folk art which is represented in the birdhouse above. Southern artist McArthur Chism has been making a wide range of bottle cap sculptures since he was a teenager. He works with only a few tools and keeps his work simple letting the colors of the caps speak for themselves.
