Still feeling the pressure to present beautifully wrapped presents to friends and family this holiday season? Stress no more. You can create wonderful gift toppers using supplies you find around your home or office. All supplies used here were collected from around the office, so don't feel the need to rush out and buy brand new supplies. Get creative and look around for inspiration! Read on to see how we made paper bows, buntings, and tissue paper flowers.

Materials:

Scissors

Paper (for the bows – brown paper or patterned paper)

Twine/yarn

Glue stick

Tape

Tissue paper (8-10 sheets)

Staples (optional)

Read the steps below for how to make the paper bows:

Step 1. Start by wrapping your gift in whatever paper you choose, here we used brown butcher paper from Fossil. Once wrapped, take a look at the size and shape of your box to decide which topper suits each present best.

Step 2. Cut paper into nine 1/2-1″ thick strips. Depending on the size of the bow, you may want to cut thinner or thicker strips. Three strips should be 11″ long, three at 10″ long, two at 9″ and one at 3 1/2″ in length.

Step 3. Twist each strip of paper to form loops at both ends (think of a figure 8) and using tape or staples, secure the loop in the middle. Make a circle out of the shortest strip.

Step 4. Create your bow! Using the largest loops first, place the loops on top of each other, alternating in direction and securing in the middle. Finish it off by taping the circle in the center.

Read the steps below for how to make the bunting:

Step 1. Using the paper you've selected (we used a paper print from a past season) fold up the bottom of the page a few inches. You can fold the paper in half to conserve paper for more bunting!

Step 2. Using scissors, cut out triangle shapes over the crease. You can just eyeball this step. Variety in shape and size adds to the homemade appeal of this craft.

Step 3. Place the twine in between each triangle, making sure the twine is nestled up in the crease. Use the glue stick to glue the sides together.

Step 4. Depending on the size of your box, you can make multiple strands of different lengths or one extra long strand. Use tape to secure the bunting to the top of your gift.

**Mix and match patterns and color when creating your bunting—glitter paper would add a sparkly touch!

Read the steps below for how to make the paper flowers:

Step 1. Stack 8-10 sheets of tissue paper on top of each other, using different colors and prints for variation. The more layers of tissue the more voluminous your flower will be. Depending on the size of your desired flower, cut down the sheets of tissue (Be sure to keep the size a rectangle, not a square!).

Step 2. Fold  the stacked tissue back and forth in 1″ increments, creating an accordion strip. Tie at the middle with twine, leaving extra so that you can attach it to your package.

Step 3: Carefully, open up the sides so that the flower is flat. Starting with the top, pull the individual layers of tissue paper toward the middle, repeating with each layer.

Now you have a beautiful blossom full of life. Attach your tissue paper flower to the top of your present with ribbon.
